Being Two is Tough!

This is one Crew's favorite way of showing he's upset. Of course there's also the usual throwing his head back, arching his back, and/or collapsing to the floor...but this one's my favorite cause I just have to laugh at him. Apparently being a 2 year old is a pretty tough and dramatic thing, especially when you have to say a blessing on your lunch before you can eat it.

Sister Missionary Attire...really?

While at the BYU game (and being pregnant) I of course made a few trips to the restroom. The first time I went I noticed this sign on the back of the stall door for the Sister Missionary Mall, where girls can buy clothes for their missions, supposedly. Anyway, I thought some of the dresses/outifts were pretty cute and then was very amused at one picture in particular. So much so, that after I went to the restroom the next time when we were leaving, I came out laughing and told Heath about this particular dress.

I ended up taking the diaper bag (which had the camera in it) back into the bathroom and closed the door to the stall behind me. I snapped these two pictures quickly and then heard Heath yelling my name from outside the restroom. What the? I hurried out of the stall, which was only used for picture-taking and saw my son running into the restroom with a huge grin on his face. He was so pleased that he had escaped while his dad was on the phone trying to get a hold of his parents so we could walk out together. I didn't need to wash my hands, as I didn't use the restroom, but there were other ladies in the room and I felt stupid so I hurried and washed my hands while Crew was running around.

Silly boy, but my mission was accomplished as I was able to get these pictures...all I was thinking was, "Um, pretty sure I've never seen a sister missionary dressed like this!" I'm not so sure it's even par with BYU's standards, yet it's hanging in the stalls of their bathrooms....pretty funny.
Pretty innocent looking, right?
Wowza...someone needs to get this girl a cami or something ;)

Crew's 1st BYU Game

We were finally able to take Crew to his first BYU football game last night down in Provo. Heath's grandpa has season tickets (and has for about 25 years). They have four right now, so his grandma and grandpa go and then Heath usually gets to go to most of the games as well.

Shauna, Heaths' mom, decided at the beginning of the season that she wanted her and Steven to go to the TCU game because it was homecoming, so Heath wasn't going to be able to go to this game. We both talked about it and how we wish we could've gone because it was going to be a big game and I wouldn't have to take a whole day off of work since it was an evening game. Anyway, our insurance agent called Heath Friday night and offerred him tickets to the game!

Heath's parents had switched over to the same insurance agent we had and he told us he owed us. Well, tickets to the game, thanks so much we'll take them! The only thing was we didn't have a built-in-babysitter for Crew. Heath's parents would also be at the game, my mom was going to the Real game, it was ShaNae's birthday, and Trent was sick. So, we decided to take him with us!

I've been wanting to take him for a while, but we just never had. Heath was really nervous he'd be crazy and I'd have to walk around with him the whole time and miss the game, but he did so great! He sat on my lap the entire time, looking around or playing with a water bottle. It also helped that all of the people we sat by were super nice. The girl behind us just thought Crew was so cute and kept tickling him and giving him high-fives. She even tried to hold him, but he was acting too shy. The lady in front of us was also talking to him throughout the game, it was so much fun to sit by such nice people, it definitely makes the game better, even if they're losing :(

Well, they did end up losing the game (sad), but Heath said we should just pretend like they didn't because I was sad BYU lost the first game Crew ever got to go to. It was still a fun night, I love hanging out with Heath's parents, and with Heath and Crew of course. Good family night and I'm glad I got a few good pictures as well!

Driving down to the game
Crew getting in the BYU spirit!
Crew and his Papa walking to the stadium
The fam
Crew and his daddy (Crew's saying Cougar)
Walking back to the car after the game. Crew hates riding on shoulders like this...
he kept squirming to get down, so I was lucky to get a picture first.
Crew, Heath, and Grandma walking to the car

Sadly, we were only able to sing this song once during the game but I'm glad I got
it on film...we sing it all the time at home and it was fun to see Crew's
reaction as we sang it at the game.

My Son Speaks Chinese!

I know I'm behind on other posts, but this happened yesterday and was really funny so I thought I'd post it quickly while I'm thinking about it.
Many of you might know that my son LOVES to talk, he really never stops. He says a ton of words clearly and understandably, but when he tries to say more than one word at a time, you can't understand much of what he says. I've been saying for months now that he just speaks Chinese and we need someone to come translate for us. Then awhile ago, my cousin said the same thing, "I think he's just speaking Chinese."
Anyway, I had to go get the brakes on my car done yesterday and knowing that it would take a while, I called my mom and asked if she wanted to take an extra long lunch hour and come hang out with us for a while. We went to Suzie's Deals (where I got some way cute shirts for way cheap!), Cafe Rio for lunch (thanks again mom, it was yummy!), and then went to this park off of 106th and Redwood.
We played for awhile, on the swings and on the slide. The weather was just spectacular yesterday! Well, there's a private school just next to the park and they decided they should join in on the beautiful weather and their teachers let them come play at the same park, but they told them to be careful of the "little boy" (Crew) and let him play.
A couple of boys were climing around this tunnel where Crew was, and Crew started talking to them. He gets very excited when kids are around, he loves them! Well, one of the little boys (probably between 8-10) gets all excited and tells his friends...

"Hey!! This kid speaks Chinese!!!"

My mom and I about died laughing, and he said it to his friends a few minutes later, it was hilarious! It wasn't so funny though when the same little boy "slid" down the tunnel and kicked Crew right in the face. I didn't see it happen, but my mom did and had a stern talking-to to the kid. His teacher made him go sit on a bench for being mean to my baby boy :( Crew got over it very quickly and was off going down the slide again.
Anyway, it was quite the adventure yesterday and I'm so lucky that I have a mom who can and will drop everything at work to come waste time with me and buy me lunch, she's the best!!!

Also, here's a video of Crew trying to sing the "Tra-la-la-la" part of "When we're helping we're happy" He's sitting in Kameron's booster seat in the car while we crossed the street (promise we didn't go far). He doesn't say his "L's" very well, but this is sure a good try!

Belated Birthday #3

Well, this is actually a birth day announcement that's pretty belated as are the rest of my posts. We're expecting another baby boy around March 10th!

This ultrasound is from my first doctor's appointment. I'm lucky enough to go to a doctor that has a machine right in his office so he always does an ultrasound the first appointment. I was a week earlier than I was with Crew when I went in, so this picture wasn't nearly as impressive as his first, but nonetheless, it's a little baby! I was very excited at my first appointment when I stepped on the scale and the nurse said, "Wow! You weigh 20 pounds less than you did at the beginning of your first pregnancy-that's awesome!" I was proud that the hard work had paid off! Maybe next time it'll be another ten pounds less (maybe).

We're very excited and nervous, hoping that everything goes as well as it did with Crew and that we'll make enough money to have more kids. I actually found out I was pregnant on July 3rd, the day before my Murray 5k I was supposed to run. It was probably a good thing that my knee had been bothering me for a few weeks so I didn't really run much of the race, but I did make the first half without it hurting me. After that though, it was killing! So walking suited me just fine for the majority of the race.

We finally told our families on September 5th, which was the day of Heath's commencement ceremony. He doesn't graduate until December, but at Columbia College where he goes, they only do the ceremony once a year. He was close enough in credit hours that they let him participate. It was hard enough to convince him to do that, I know there would've been no way I could get him to come back next September after he's been done with school for nearly a year to go put on a cap and gown and walk. He did it mostly for me, which I appreciated. I'll post pictures of that later.

Anyway, I felt more sick with this little guy that I did with Crew. At least I think I did. I started thinking about it though and wondered if it was because I had time to sit at home all day and think about how I didn't feel well, where with Crew I was in school from 7am-3pm then working from 3pm-9pm, so I just didn't have time to be sick. Either way, I was very tired didn't feel well the first few weeks. I am proud to say that I still have yet to break my no throw-up streak (It's now been 5 1/2 years since I've thrown up).

I went to my third appointment last Tuesday (at 17 weeks) and the doctor asked if we wanted to find out what we were having. I had Heath and Crew come with me because I knew he'd be doing another ultrasound. He asked if we had any predictions, which was weird that neither of us did. Two days before that I had a dream that I had a girl, but then the next night I dreamt I had a boy. Heath didn't have his "feeling" like he did with Crew, he knew Crew was a boy. This time we both weren't sure. So when the doctor showed us the baby's two thighs and then in between his "equipment" as the doctor called it, we are definitely having another boy!!

So, all is well so far and we're very excited to have another cute baby boy in our home in a few months. I have my official ultrasound at the hospital in about two weeks, so I'll post some more pictures when I get them!

Crew has been really cute about it. I don't think he really understands what's going on, but he always pats my tummy when I ask him where the baby is. The other day I was changing his diaper and talking about the baby. He patted my tummy then said "kiss, kiss". I bent over to give him a kiss and he said "no, baby kiss" and sat up and kissed my tummy. It was so sweet and now when we talk about the baby, he usually wants to give him a kiss. I hope he enjoys the baby when he's here as he seems to be enjoying him now.

So, there's the announcement, a whole month short and everything!

Belated Birthday #2- Crew

Well now that's Crew's officially been a two-year old for over a month, I figured it was about time to post about it! His birthday was August 19th and we had our immediate family over for dinner the night before because Heath's family was going to Ohio to visit his sister and her family.

It was a great night with yummy tacos, presents, and a fish pinata. Crew got a golf set, some clothes, books, a V-Tech game, among other things.

He's really liked fish a lot lately, so that's why we got the fish pinata. I also attempted to make him a "fishy" cake. I was supposed to use those Neco Wafers, but couldn't find them, so we settled with mini 'Nilla Wafers. It's obviously pretty sloppy, but Crew still called it a "fishy" so I guess it wasn't that bad!

I can't believe my baby boy is two years old. Looking back on my blog from when he was first born, it amazes me how different he is. Yet he still brings so much joy into our lives and is such a sweetheart.

He's also pretty crazy. He loves to climb on anything he can, and even the things he really shouldn't be able to. We still haven't set up his toddler bed, so he's been sleeping in his pack-n-play for a while now, since he started jumping out of his crib. I didn't want him to break his arm or worse, so we put him in the pack-n-play. Well, it didn't take him long to figure out how to jump out of that either. He climbs out of it every morning with his blanket and opens his door (which has the child-proof cover over the knob) and comes into my room or wherever I am.

He's always loved his "beebee" (blanket) but it seems he's become more obsessed with it over the past few months. The other day I was getting ready to leave, so I threw it in his bed. He got so mad at me, ran into his room, and the next thing I know he's sitting in his bed holding his blanket with the biggest grin on his face. I told him to stay there until we were ready to leave then and he did. Everytime I walked past his door, he would hug his blanket and give me this smile of satisfaction. I don't let him take it out of the house though unless, he'll be napping somewhere else. Silly boy.

He's still a very vocal boy as he has been forever, but you still can't understand a lot of what he says. He says plenty of words, but he's just not that good at putting them together to form any sentences. I'll ask him what his name is and he'll jabber for about 10 seconds and then say, "Crew".

He's still somewhat of a momma's boy, but he loves it when dad wrestles and tickles him. He's especially ticklish on the back of his thigh and it's so funny to watch him laugh and squirm. He also still adores the rest of his family very much, especially his Papa. Whenever we turn down the Horner's street, he knows exactly where we're going and starts saying, "Papa" in a growly, deep voice. On the other hand, if we take a right instead of a left, he knows we're going to Nana's house and starts saying "Nana, Matt, Kam" over and over. He's very much loved that's for sure!

Anyway, happy way belated birthday to my sweet little boy, we love you!!

Belated Birthday #1- Heath

I was realizing that I really should post Crew's birthday on here, then I had another realization that I totally forgot my husband's birthday over two months ago- I know, I'm horrible!! Well, happy belated birthday to both my boys, I love you both so much!!

Heath's birthday was June 24th, and in his opinion, it's the best day of the entire year to have a birthday because his half-birthday is Christmas Eve, which means presents exactly every six months. I can't believe he's 28! It seems like yesterday he was a freshly returned missionary making his little sister call me for him.

Well, it's now seven years later (holy cow!!) and so much has changed, but he's still the same in a good way. On another exciting note about Heath, he's graduating from school in December with his BS in Business Administration with a major in Management. This is a huge deal for us and I'm so proud and excited for him! His graduation ceremony is on Saturday (they only do it once a year and there's no way he'd come back a year later to put on a cap and gown and walk). I know he'd much rather be in Dallas watching the Cougars play their first game of the year, but we don't have the money. Besides, he's doing the whole graduation thing for me anyway, it doesn't really matter to him, but I think it's a big deal so he's going to do it.

Anyway, I'm so proud of you Heath! I know this has taken us longer to get done than we would've liked, but then I look around and realize, hey! We've been busy. I was also going to school, we bought a house four months after we got married, moved a few years later, bought another house, had a baby, etc. I know he still has a few months left, but him being able to participate in this graduation ceremony is making me all excited to have him all done with school. Well, happy birthday again Heath and I love you!!
